Hi there, my name is Rebecca. I’m starting this fundraiser to help offset the cost of medical treatment while I fight against cancer.

This is very important to me, any money raised will go towards medical therapies to help my body get through treatment !

In 2017 I had noticed a lump in my neck, but didn’t think anything of it as I felt completely fine. After a few months of it not improving I went to see a doctor, where I was then referred to a ENT specialist.

This ENT told me she believed this mass was from my wisdom teeth and that I’d need them to be removed before we could do anything further. I was sent to a Dental Surgeon who reviewed X-rays, and told me he really didn’t believe my wisdom teeth had anything to do with this mass. I saw the ENT again and was told if I wasn’t going to have them taken out, there was nothing she could do for me.

I went back to my family doctor, and he booked me for a Biopsy just to double check it wasn’t anything sinister.

Results came back inconclusive.

In 2019 I started to feel as if my breathing was being constricted. I was working as a Chef, and noticed I was losing my breath while leading our cooks. I went back to my family doctor, where I was told there was a new ENT Specialist in our city!

I was referred to him, and within a few weeks went for a consultation. He was concerned with the size of the mass, and wanted to do a biopsy immediately.

Ten days after this biopsy I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer.

Since 2019 I’ve had a full thyroidectomy, with a lymph node dissection, along with two rounds of Radio Iodine. It hasn’t gone away, but we were using medication to suppress its growth which was working.

As of May of 2025, I had routine labs ran, and my tumour tracer numbers increased drastically.

I have ultrasounds on my thyroid bed/ neck every six months, and the tumours we are tracking haven’t changed in size to match my lab numbers.

As of July I had labs ran, and the numbers have gone up again. My Oncologist said we are now playing “ Where’s Waldo” since my existing tumours are the same, the cancer has likely spread somewhere else. Once this type of cancer has gone from thyroid to lymph nodes it’s common for it to spread to lungs or bones. I was told it’s not time to panic, so instead I’m wanting to be proactive.

I would like to raise money to help offset the cost of therapies to help my immune system fight cancer.

I truly don’t believe this is the end for me, I just want to start this next chapter with a fighting chance to kick cancers ass.
