Hello Everyone!

My niece, Rebecca Thompson, was involved in a serious hydroplaning car crash on August 1st. She was transported to UNC hospital in an ambulance. Rebecca was already in surgery when her family arrived at the hospital. We didn’t even know why she was in surgery. At 2:30am the doctor came out to explain what had happened to her. The seatbelt that had saved her life had also caused intense internal injuries to her abdominal wall and fracturing her shoulder. Rebecca has spent 15 days in intensive care at unc hospital. Rebecca has had major surgery as well as procedures for drains and tubes. She has been moved to normal room last night. And has started solid foods too. Rebecca has had the most incredible attitude. So positive and joyful. So thankful to be alive.

Yet, her recovery is going to be long. Rebecca is a young lady working hourly jobs at bojangles and UPS. These jobs require long hours of standing and heavy lifting. It’s going to be a very long road to get her back into jobs like these. She has very limited mobility and the future of her capabilities is uncertain.

We are starting this fundraiser to help with her with rent, bills, living expenses and possibly medical cost.

We don’t want one catastrophic event to put her into an impossible debt situation at her age of 21.

Rebecca is a fun, thoughtful, sweet hearted young lady. The whole world is ahead of her. We appreciate all the support in this time of great hardship for her and her family. Any amount will help offset her living expenses while she isn’t able to work.
