Support the Lewis Family After Tragic Loss

My name is Ashley McKinney and I am a dear friend of John & Reanna Lewis. On Sunday, April 6th 2025, at the young age of twenty seven, John tragically lost his life. He entered into the arms of Jesus and reunited with his beloved little sister Alex in heaven.

I'm organizing this benefit in honor of John, and to support his wife Reanna and son Jireh during this tragic time. Our hope is to cover these upcoming expenses for his family (breakdown of cost at bottom of post):

John's wife Reanna is now not only a single mother (at just 21 yrs old), but also orphaned as she lost her father four years ago and mother a month ago. I met Reanna while she was in foster care. She aged out and got married to John immediately, her high-school sweetheart.

Due to John's ongoing health issues, he was unable to work and was on state assistance. His support was this family's main source of income. The loss of John's life is not only emotionally devastating, but it presents financial difficulties. This family has been through unspeakable hardship and I humbly ask that you would consider supporting them in any way you can whether financially or in prayer. Another way to help is by sharing this family's story with your community and requesting that they also participate in fundraising to cover the financial burdens Reanna faces as she navigates these coming weeks and months.

John had a very sweet and tender heart, especially for the homeless. When I met John, he was homeless himself. Through years of making strides, John and his family made it into stable housing with the help of the community.

He was such a gentleman, he would always open car doors for the ladies and would be sure to not let you leave without sprinting out to give you a big hug goodbye. He sported his leather jacket all year round (even summer!), it was practically glued to him. John began struggling in his health at a young age. He not only underwent a life-altering brain surgery, but he simultaneously fought kidney failure. Despite the battle John was facing, he never complained. He loved Jesus and was baptized at Church On The Move on January 8, 2023.

John 14:1-6

Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
