Ray is a caring and thoughtful person who has always shown up for others — especially within our mutual sobriety community. He has offered encouragement, support, and compassion to so many when they needed it most.
Recently, Ray and his family traveled out of the country to honor the passing of a loved one. What was meant to be a time of remembrance quickly turned into a devastating medical emergency. Ray suddenly and unexpectedly suffered multiple seizures, followed by an aortic aneurysm and two additional strokes. As a result of the seizures and strokes, he also endured two shoulder fractures and two compression disc fractures in his spine.
The situation became even more critical when it was determined that Ray was not stable enough to return home on a commercial flight. He had to be emergency airlifted to receive the care he urgently needed. The hospital in the country where he was initially treated did not have the necessary medical equipment to properly care for his condition. Despite the severity of his situation, his family was required to pay a substantial amount upfront for treatment — and additional payment was demanded before he would be cleared to leave and be transported for further care.
In the midst of their grief, Ray’s family faced overwhelming fear, uncertainty, and extraordinary financial pressure — all while fighting to save his life.
Ray’s kindness has touched countless lives. Now, he and his family are facing significant medical debt, along with the ongoing challenges of recovery and unemployment due to his ongoing medical condition.
The funds raised will go directly toward Ray’s mounting medical expenses, emergency transport costs, and the continued treatment and rehabilitation he needs on his road to recovery.
Please consider supporting Ray during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, no matter the amount, or simply sharing this fundraiser, will make a meaningful difference. Together, we can help Ray and his family heal after this traumatic experience.
