Hi everyone! I’m Ray!
It’s really difficult for me to ask for help but I am needing a bit of support through an especially rough time as I face housing insecurity due to my various disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Some details about my situation:
I’ve not been able to work for the past 3 years as my disabilities have progressed. I’ve been seeing several doctors and specialists to try and get answers but I am still undiagnosed and it may be a while before I get any clear answers or treatment.
Without a diagnosis, I dont currently qualify for SSI/disability so I've been living off the generosity of friends letting me stay with them, community support, and savings which ive been using to pay my medical bills and health insurance.
I have completely exhausted my savings, and I have also lost access to food stamps which was the only way I was able to afford groceries.
I am still in the process of figuring out where to stay, but will likely be moving out of state in Dec/Jan to live with family in either Georgia or Connecticut.
This transition is going to be really hard on me, and I struggle with memory issues, so please be patient with me if I forget to respond to messages.
Thank you for all your support! I have been a part of the Denton community for 10 years and I would not be here if werent for mutual aid/community support and help from friends. I’m also super grateful for my online friends who have been my anchor these past 2 years.
