Support Rays Battle Against Heart Disease

Hello! My name is Ray, I'm a 26 years old artist, student, and caretaker.

I’ve been newly diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a progressive and life-threatening heart disease that puts me at high risk for sudden cardiac death. I was born with a mitral valve prolapse. Heart disease runs in my family, my father and grandfather passed away from the same condition. Now, I’m facing it head on.

Until very recently, I’ve been juggling multiple responsibilities working nonstop, attending school, and caring for two disabled family members. Unfortunately, the physical and emotional stress has rapidly worsened my condition. I’ve been hospitalized several times this year- I’ve had to leave my job, and now I’m overwhelmed with fear about how I’ll afford rent/bills, food, or the critical medical care I need…

Despite repeated efforts, I’ve been denied insurance coverage even though I have no income, and the heart surgery I’ll need is estimated to cost $75,000 out of pocket.

I’m not expecting to raise that full amount, but any support you can offer would help me cover specialist visits, medications, everyday expenses, and basic living costs while I recieve care.

I’m also going to do my best to stay afloat by selling my art and taking commissions. I’ll update this shortly this week with an Etsy link. Supporting that work also means supporting my care.

I’m able to live a healthy life with proper care, if I can recieve it.
