20+ years ago a man walked into our mom’s life and decided he would stay with her forever. Just a year ago they finally officiated it and became husband and wife, and he is now officially our step dad! But Ray took on that role of our stepdad a long time ago. Ray has always been a man of few words but always a man of action. He’s always shown up for the family without question.

Recently Ray was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. It took months of countless testing and doctor’s appointments to even get a diagnosis, which he had continued to work as his health declined. He has been going through treatment since January and has since been unable to work, due to the toll the chemo and infusions has taken on his body.

On the upside, he has been having success with the treatments and had surgery on Monday, 5/19, to try and remove any remaining cancer. He’s currently in the hospital recovering, after some minor complications. He will continue chemo but there’s no end date for his treatment at this time, which ultimately means he will continue to be unable to work.

There have been so many unexpected expenses throughout all of this that our mom and Ray have had, and it’s getting to that point where they could use some extra help. They’re both so proud and would never ask anyone for anything, but we know that it’s becoming more stressful for them as the days and months go on. So, what happens when the one guy that has always shown up can’t? We show up for him in any way possible! Life is busy and hard these days but family is forever and we are doing all we can, but sometimes our hardest isn’t enough, so we are now asking for your help. No amount is too little during this time, and is so appreciated. We will continue to update as the days go on with Ray’s recovery. Thanks for taking the time to read this and supporting this wonderful couple.
