Support Raymond Johnson’s Recovery and Legal Fight

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read our story. My name is Lauren, Raymond Johnson’s sister, and our mother is Leticia Reyes. My family and I have set up a fundraiser for Raymond, our incredible son, brother, grandson, boyfriend and friend.

On Saturday, January 18th, Raymond was involved in what began as a chase for his stolen delivery van and soon after turned into a triple stabbing altercation. Raymond's van was stolen while he was working, delivering packages, Saturday morning. After realizing his van was stolen and attempting to call the police and receiving no help, Raymond biked 7 miles from Oakland to Berkeley to track down his van. Upon arriving at the location of his van, a man and woman, the alleged van thief and his accomplice were found removing the packages. When confronted, the woman stabbed Raymond and he acted in self-defense, ultimately later causing the unfortunate and untimely passing of the woman. The man, who has a very extensive criminal history of felony cases pursuant to theft, while trying to flee and probing to attack Raymond, also sustained injuries as an act of self-defense. As a result of Raymond’s heroic act, he has been hospitalized and has undergone surgery, as well as other significant procedures.

As he continues to fight for his health, we are asking for your support as we continue the fight for his well-being and freedom. UPDATE 6/29/25: We would like to start by thanking everyone for your support. The case was dismissed last month, by God's grace, and Raymond is recovering from his injuries.
