Raymond Bowie has been a beloved Mardi Gras float artist since 1977, bringing the magic of the season to life for tens of thousands of people. With no formal training but an abundance of pure talent, Raymond has painted floats for legendary krewes like Rex, Orpheus, Endymion, Zulu, Iris, and the Krewe of Muses. He has always taken pride in his work, carefully transforming each krewe’s vision into larger-than-life art that rolls through the streets of New Orleans. As the floats have grown bigger and more elaborate over the years, Raymond’s dedication has never wavered. He once said, “It means more than just a paycheck to me. That’s why I work the way I work. I’m not going to leave a float till it’s done, period. The way I want it done.”
Recently, Raymond’s life changed dramatically. He has been diagnosed with cancer, suffered two strokes and is now unable to work, requiring full-time care. The man who has given so much to the Mardi Gras community now needs our help. Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward supporting Raymond and ensuring he receives the care he needs during this difficult time.
Raymond Bowie’s dedication to the art of Mardi Gras has brought joy to so many. He is a thoughtful and generous man who has always shared his gifts with others. Now, it’s our turn to give back. Please consider supporting Raymond or sharing this fundraiser to help us thank him for all he has done for our community.
