Support Raye’s Journey

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Raye McFarling on August 6th after succumbing to his battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer. As our hearts greave, please continue to offer support and prayers to Melinda and her family.

Melinda would like to thank everyone again for your all of your love, prayers and generosity. It has truly meant the world to her.

Hi, this is Chris and Amy, Melinda McFarling’s Ride or Die team.

Melinda and Raye continue to face the most heartbreaking and challenging year of their lives. Raye was taken to the ER on Feb 7, 2023 with shortness of breath , assuming he could possibly have a blood clot, only to find out he had a 5.7x4.8 cm mass in his left lung. After several biopsies, Raye has been diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer, the most aggressive form of lung cancer. Raye started the necessary treatments immediately, receiving 12 rounds of chemotherapy and 33 radiation treatments. Unfortunately his body did not react well to the treatment and he has been in and out of the hospital a number of times since February.

There was initial improvement at first, however this type of cancer targets the brain and does so very aggressively. We recently learned the cancer has spread to the Adrenal glands, some lymph nodes and now to his brain. After much consideration the family chose quality over quantity of life, and Hospice is now involved.

Melinda and Raye have been married 33 years and have two sons and two grandsons. Family means everything to them.
