October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and I’m Deciding To Bring Awareness To My Own Situation! I married my high school sweetheart at 19 and 11 days into the marriage he assaulted me after a night of drinking! I endured the darkest days of my life during the course of my marriage. The turning point came after I decided to got to cosmetology school! I received my license and began earning a decent income. My truth is my children’s father abused me physically and verbally the entire marriage due to an alcohol addiction! He would always promise to stop and apologize for his behavior but his fits of anger could come at any time and I would have to push through. In 2020 at the peak of my career came the final straw when he shot a gun off in our bedroom! I put a restraining order on him and filed for divorce. He continued to make my life miserable while getting out of the marriage. He removed himself completely financially and managed to turn everyone he could against me including our 2 oldest children. I chose not to fight with him in the courts and settled in a non contested divorce that has been finalized now for 16 months. I left everything behind and My daughter Raychel and I relocated to Georgia for a fresh start! God has blessed us with a wonderful 1 bedroom apartment and a new car. I have not received any help from friends and family and the only real support I have is my clients. I’ve struggled through depression and anxiety but I’m still faithful. I’ve always been a light and love to others and a person one can depend on my entire life. It’s hard for me to ask for help but I’m asking. Many choose to scoff and laugh at my pain and some just see my beauty and how well I carry myself so they think everything is ok. I’ve created a resume and have interviews lined up for a job that will provide stable income but for now I need help covering my October’s rent to keep me afloat since September was a bad month for me in my busines. I have until the 13th to cover the expenses before my apartment files an eviction and the expenses increase.
