Dear Family & Friends,
We are writing to you today on behalf of our Dad, Ray Reynolds.
This past week, seemingly out of nowhere, he noticed a large amount of swelling in his stomach. This was concerning and was causing him a lot of discomfort. He went to the hospital and got a CAT scan which showed fluid in his stomach. The doctors drained it and did an MRI. After getting 14lbs of fluid drained, the MRI and biopsy diagnosed him with Stage 4, Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma). It is a rare, aggressive cancer originating in the bile ducts, the tubes connecting the liver, gallbladder, and small intestine. It is inoperable, incurable and he will need to start treatment right away.
With that being said, we know God is a healer and can do miraculous things. We hold onto the promise of Isaiah 53:5 which states: "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
If you know our dad, you know that family is everything to him. He is a devoted husband to our mom, Renee, an incredible father, a proud grandfather of four, and someone who has always put others before himself. He is the kind of man everyone describes the same way; kind, genuine, and someone who truly loves people.
He believes deeply in God, and his faith has never wavered, even in the face of this diagnosis. He’s competitive, strong, and a fighter who doesn’t give up easily, and we know he will approach this battle with that same strength and determination.
We are raising funds to help cover everyday expenses and the medical bills that are adding up quickly. Our dad has worked in the entertainment industry for almost 40 years and is the sole provider for his family. We are not sure yet how all of this will affect his work/life balance.
Our mom, Renee, is the primary caretaker of our grandma, Shirley, who is 91 years old, who has her own health issues and is currently living with them. We are all pitching in, but our mom will need as much help as possible hiring caretakers for Shirley while she takes our dad to his treatments.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will ease the burden on our parents and help them focus on our dad‘s treatment and overall wellbeing. More importantly, it will allow us to spend more quality time together as a family during this extremely difficult time.
We love our dad, more than words could ever describe and we know that he is deeply loved by so many of you as well. We appreciate all of your support, kind words and prayers. Thank you.
