Support Rara Tou Limen's Cultural Legacy

Donation protected
Greetings dedicated supporters, donors, patrons, elders, culture bearers, Vodouisant, dancers, artists, and friends,

This year, we are honored to step into a monumental achievement for our beloved company as we joyously celebrate our 20th anniversary! As we celebrate reaching this historic milestone, we're turning to you, our cherished community, to help us keep moving forward.

About Us!

Rara Tou Limen is a performing arts organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of Haitian folkloric dance. For twenty years, our dance company has been a vibrant thread woven into the fabric of the Bay Area community. Our programs and productions have captivated audiences, ignited young dancers' passions, and brought joy through the power of movement.

We’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign to secure the resources needed to ensure that Rara Tou Limen's work continues to shine brightly for another 20 years and beyond.

We are specifically asking for your support for RASANBLE! Haitian Arts & Culture Festival 2024.

We seek monetary assistance to cover:

Artist Airfare x 7
Lodging x 6 days
Transportation/Gas x 6 days
Meals x 6 days
Venue x 3 days
Rehearsal Space
Festival Supplies

Each year, our company brings a little bit of Haiti to the SF Bay Area through our vibrant festival called Rasanble! Haitian Arts and Culture Festival. This Haitian arts and culture celebration immerses participants in a whirlwind of experiences, including dance workshops, music, art exhibitions, academic presentations, a spiritual Vodou Ceremony, and delicious cuisine. All of which leave people inspired and enlightened.

But our commitment to cultural exchange extends far beyond the Bay Area. We offer new opportunities to learn and grow each year through RTL Vodou Voyages. This research/study travel excursion furthers artistic growth and aids in personal and professional development. Past Vodou Voyages have included Haiti (2014), Montreal, Canada (2016), Havana, Cuba (2017), NOLA (2018), and most recently Benin, West Africa (2019, 2023).

Our annual pilgrimage to Benin further enriches people's spiritual journeys and deepens our understanding of our shared ancestry. On this trip back home to the land of our ancestors, we draw parallels between Vodou's vibrant traditions in Haiti and the rich spiritual practice of West African Vodun. Through cultural exchange and collaboration, we strengthen the bonds between the two nations and foster a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of our shared heritage.

Our Contributions

Over the past two decades, Rara Tou Limen has helped nurture an increasing awareness of Haiti and its people. Through electrifying performances, educational workshops, and cultural festivals, our company has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who have experienced our magic, transporting audiences from the vibrant city streets of Port-au-Prince to the beautiful coastal town of Jacmel.

Since the beginning, we have dedicated ourselves to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Haiti through the art of dance. With each drum beat, movement, and jubilant cry of "Ayibobo," we honor our ancestors' traditions, stories, and spirit. Our performances are not just showcases of talent; they are living, breathing tributes to the resilience and beauty of Haiti- the first free Black republic.

Every contribution, big or small, is more than a donation. It’s an investment in preserving and promoting Haitian culture in the Bay Area. It will help us stage unforgettable performances, expand our outreach efforts, and ensure that Haitian culture continues to thrive for generations to come.
Together, we can continue bringing you exhilarating tributes to the enduring resilience and beauty of Haitian culture.

We thank you for being a vital part of our journey to this point. Will you join us in celebrating our legacy and shaping our future?

Donate today and become an integral part of our next chapter!

Sincerely,

Portsha T. Jefferson
