Hi, my name is Alexis. I’m starting this GoFundMe for my mom, Raquel Foster, an active member of ILWU Local 13.

Last month, on Tuesday, September 9th, as she was driving home after work, she was struck by a suspect in a stolen commerce truck speeding north on Magnolia in the city of Long Beach. The suspect ran the red light going approximately 80 mph and crashed into my mom, who was traveling west on Third St., causing my mom’s car to spin uncontrollably and do a 180 until it stopped. The suspect fled the scene and was caught with the help of good Samaritans until the police arrived and he was apprehended.

The impact of the truck's engine caused severe trauma to my mom’s foot, leaving it broken in two places. This injury will require surgery, and she will be out of work for quite some time. It will be a long recovery for her that will include doctor appointments, physical therapy, and lawyer visits.

Anyone who knows my mom will tell you that she has the biggest heart and will help anyone in need, friend, family, or stranger. We are asking for donations (big or small) to help with recovery expenses, bills that are past due, as well as litigation to get justice for my mom. Thank you in advance and take care.
