Hello all,
My name is Monica. I have been best friends with Raquel for over 30 years. As many of you have learned in the last several days, Raquel's husband Paul, passed away on his way home after coaching his last soccer practice of the season. As you would assume, this left his family and friends shocked and saddened by such a sudden and unexpected loss. Paul was a light to his family, friends and to his soccer community. He loved his family with all his heart and showed his love through the many sacrifices he's made over the years. Paul didn't hold back on letting the world know the adoration he had for his kids and especially his wife.
Paul also lived for soccer. He played soccer, coached his kids and didn't want to stop there, so he continued to coach. He's had an impact on so many young lives with his positive demeanor and genuine care for all the kids. He lived his last day doing what he loved!
Paul was a man of God. He made his faith known to all and shared his faith and hope in Christ daily, through personal prayers he'd send to his wife and kids. As a way to honor Paul, I wanted to come up with a way that would bless his family. No one is prepared for the loss of a spouse, especially when they are young and healthy. Raquel will take on being a single mom and soul provider to her children. As you can guess, during her grief and mourning, she can't help but worry about her and the kids financial future. My heart hurts for her in so many ways. I know there are so many of you out there that would love a way to honor Paul, as well. I'd love for his family, friends and soccer community to come together to love on Raquel, Lucas and Isabella during this difficult life changing transition. So many of you have reached out to Raquel and even though she has been quiet, she is feeling all your love.
