Support for Our Family After a Traumatic Event
Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I’m setting this up at the request of my husband, Randy.
Many of you may know part of Randy’s story. He’s a U.S. Army combat veteran and former medic who has openly shared his battle with PTSD over the years, including through a powerful piece published in Guideposts, where he described how a service dog became a lifeline during one of his darkest seasons. For over a decade, Randy has worked hard in therapy, gone through inpatient programs, and done the emotional heavy lifting of surviving trauma. But the road with PTSD isn’t linear—and it’s a battle that doesn’t just affect the person struggling with it, but the entire family walking beside them.
On June 7th, our lives were changed by a traumatic and deeply painful event. Randy experienced a severe mental health crisis and attempted to take his life. It’s a moment I will never forget. He was found in time, but only just. He had lost so much blood, and the days that followed have been nothing short of emotionally devastating for our family.
At Randy’s request, I’m sharing our story here to ask for help—not because we take this lightly, but because we truly don’t know how long the impact of this crisis will ripple through our lives. He is currently unable to work, and his return to any normalcy is uncertain while he focuses fully on his recovery.
We’re doing everything we can to keep things together for our children, our animals, and each other. But emotionally and financially, we’re stretched thin. This fundraiser is here to help us:
Cover basic household and farm expenses
Support therapy and recovery-related care
Maintain a sense of stability for our children
Create space for our family to focus on healing
We don’t expect charity. We’re simply asking for community. If you are in a position to help financially, we are incredibly grateful. If not, sharing this or keeping us in your prayers is just as meaningful.
Thank you for loving us through this time, for seeing the human story behind the headlines, and for walking this incredibly hard road with us.
With love and gratitude,
Rebecca & Family
