“God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers”
In April of 2019, Randy Cheuvront, our Dad was diagnosed with Primary Membranous Nephropathy, chronic kidney disease stage 3. He battled for months with swelling in the legs that slowly moved up his body causing more and more swelling that the doctors couldn’t determine the cause. He’s been on high blood pressure medicine, tried diuretics but nothing was working. Finally, a biopsy was done on his kidneys and found this disease.
In June of 2019, he had a stroke losing movement in his left arm from the elbow down. He immediately started rehab to gain the strength back in his arm and hand. While in the hospital for the stroke the doctors determined he had a hole in his heart which they believed may have caused the stroke. The doctors decided to perform a minor procedure to put a monitor under his skin which will be there for the next three years.
After the stroke, his kidney specialist knew it was crucial to begin treatment on the Primary Membranous Nephropathy and stop any further damage or any additional health conditions. The only treatment for the severity of his disease was chemo paired with a steroid. So while in the hospital for the stroke, he started his chemo treatment.
A week after being discharged from the hospital our dad, on Father’s Day, woke up and could barely put pressure on his right leg without it hurting terribly. He looked at his leg and there was a very large round spot on his inner thigh. He was rushed to the hospital where they admitted him again and started antibiotics by IV around the clock. After noticing the antibiotics were working he was released and continued antibiotics at home.
He has been on blood thinners, blood pressure medicine, a steroid and chemo for the past several months and having blood work done weekly to monitor his blood cell count. On August 15, 2019 he was told his blood cell count was too low and had to stop the chemo.
On August 23, 2019 our dad lost his eye sight. He was rushed to the hospital again where they said he had another stroke that was caused by a blood clot on the back of the brain and was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV for treatment.
Randy is a person that would do anything for anyone. He would give you the shirt off his back even if he didn’t know you. During all of this, he still finds ways to be able to help others when they need it. As a father, he has done so much for us. Teaching us how to care for those in need and now he needs us during this time and as his kids we want to help!
Our dad is unable to work and we don’t know if he will ever be able to work again due to the loss of his eye sight and medical expenses are coming in one after another.
Please help our Dad recover in this very difficult time.
