UPDATE - 03/28/2026

This week has been incredibly heavy for our family.

Randy was not able to have his procedure on Wednesday due to a tumor that was found. Since then, our world has been turned upside down as we’ve learned that Randy has esophageal cancer. At this time, doctors believe it may be stage 3 or stage 4, but we are still waiting on additional testing to confirm.

We’re still trying to process how quickly everything has changed. Just a short time ago, we were expecting answers and a plan—now we’re facing something much bigger than we ever imagined.

Over the past several days, Randy has gone through multiple tests, and we’ve met with two oncologists as we begin to navigate what comes next. We have more appointments scheduled for next week, and right now we are waiting on more results before a full treatment plan can be put in place.

Through all of this, Mayo has been incredible. We are so thankful to be in the hands of such a compassionate and knowledgeable team as we face what’s ahead.  The waiting, the unknown, and the fear have been overwhelming—but we are holding tightly to hope and taking this one moment at a time.

We are so incredibly grateful for the prayers, messages, and support. They are helping carry us through some of the hardest days we’ve ever faced.

Thank you for standing with us.

Our family is facing a difficult and unexpected medical road, and we’re reaching out for support as we navigate what comes next. Randy was recently diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus with high‑grade dysplasia, along with a hiatal hernia that also needs to be treated. Because of the seriousness of his condition, he was referred to the Mayo Clinic for specialized care. Unfortunately, we’ve learned that our insurance is out of network for Mayo, which means the financial burden is far greater than we ever anticipated.

What we know right now is that Randy will need to travel to Mayo every three months for ongoing treatment and monitoring — and possibly more often if cancer is found. The procedures, travel, lodging, and out‑of‑network medical costs add up quickly, and the unknowns ahead are overwhelming. We’re doing everything we can to stay strong and take this one step at a time, but we can’t do it alone.

Any support — whether through donations, sharing this page, or keeping Randy in your prayers — means more than we can express. The unknown is scary, but we’re holding onto hope and trusting that we’re in the right hands.

Thank you, Randy and Tammie
