Help a Childhood Friend Stay Housed After a Stroke
I never imagined I would be writing something like this about someone who has been part of my life since childhood.
My dear friend Randy recently suffered a stroke that has left him unable to work for the foreseeable future. Overnight, everything changed. What was once a stable, independent life has become a season of recovery, uncertainty, and overwhelming stress.
Right now, his most urgent need is housing.
Because he cannot work during his recovery, he has fallen behind financially and is now facing eviction. In addition to medical recovery, his home is in need of basic repairs to remain safe and livable. We are actively pursuing social service assistance, disability support, and longer-term resources—but as many know, these systems take time. Time he simply doesn’t have.
This GoFundMe is about buying him that time.
The funds raised will go toward:
Preventing eviction and keeping a roof over his head
Essential home repairs so his living space is safe during recovery
Basic living expenses while he heals and regains stability
Randy is not someone who asks for help easily. He has always worked hard, shown up for others, and lived with quiet resilience. This stroke has humbled him in ways none of us expect to face, and the emotional weight of possibly losing his home has made recovery even harder.
I’m stepping in because community matters—and because no one should have to face medical recovery and homelessness at the same time.
If you are able to give, please know that every dollar truly helps. If you can’t give financially, sharing this fundraiser or keeping him in your prayers means more than you know.
Thank you for helping us keep him housed, supported, and focused on healing.
With gratitude,
His Friends
