Support Randy's Fight Against Staph Infection
Donation protected
On May 27th, Randy woke up with a high fever, a swollen red arm, and feeling ill. Cindy took him to DMH ER, where he was diagnosed with a staph infection. After attempting to drain fluid from his arm, he was taken to the operating room on May 29th, and twice on May 30th to clean out the infection. On the evening of May 30th, he was transferred to Springfield Memorial Hospital to undergo another surgery, hoping to stop the infection from spreading and save his arm from amputation.
On June 4th, he was sent home on oral antibiotics from Springfield Memorial while Cindy had to redress the three wounds daily. On June 6th, while dressing his wound, Cindy noticed that the wound appeared red and warm to the touch. After arriving at the ER, he was readmitted to DMH.
He is currently receiving IV antibiotics and has a wound vac to help his heal faster. He will be able to go home in the next couple of days, but still has a long recovery ahead. He will go home with the wound vac and IV antibiotics for at least a month. Home health will come to the house to change the dressings on his arm.
As some of you may know, Randy was diagnosed with bladder cancer in October 2024 and was off work until March 2025 for surgery and immunotherapy, therefore; he has used all his PTO time for the year. At this time, we are unsure of when Randy will be strong enough to return to work. Both Randy and Cindy appreciate any donations towards medical bills and time needed off work while he is recovering at home.
