For his entire life, Randy has answered the call to serve others. In 1967, Randy served his country in Vietnam as a Military Police officer working in intelligence. After returning home, he continued serving his community by becoming a Los Angeles County Sheriff, dedicating his career to protecting the public and helping those in crisis. Randy’s commitment to helping others came at a personal cost. While assisting a victim of a violent rape, Randy suffered a serious injury that forced him into early retirement from law enforcement. Even after losing the career he loved, Randy refused to stop serving others. Determined to keep fighting for justice, he went on to earn a law degree and later worked as an investigator for the State Bar of California—once again standing up for those who needed help.
Now, Randy is facing the hardest battle of his life. He has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, and the disease has spread to his pelvis. The treatments are difficult, and the road ahead is uncertain. His wife Nancy has become his full-time caregiver, standing by his side every moment of this fight. At the same time, Nancy is also caring for her bedridden mother. She is providing constant care for two loved ones who depend on her completely. Because of these overwhelming responsibilities, Nancy is unable to work. The medical costs, household bills, and daily expenses are quickly becoming more than the family can manage alone.
Randy spent his entire life protecting others—first his country, then his community, and later the justice system. He never asked for anything in return. Now, he needs our help. We are raising funds to help cover medical treatments, living expenses, and the financial strain that comes with full-time caregiving so Nancy can focus on what matters most: caring for Randy and her mother during this incredibly difficult time.
