Support Randy S. Moe's Fight Against Guillain-Barre

Donation protected

Dear friends, family, and community,

We are reaching out to ask for support for my dad, Randy S. Moe, in his battle against Guillain-Barre syndrome. As many of you know by now, he was diagnosed towards the end of October with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare and debilitating condition where the body’s immune system attacks its nervous system, resulting in extreme pain, weakness, and partial to complete paralysis. Within days, my dad went from strong and able bodied, to no longer having the ability to walk or control his limbs.
We are so fortunate to have had an amazing team of medical staff both in Miles City and Missoula, who recognized, diagnosed, and began immediate treatment and rehabilitation with my dad, but he still has a very long and tumultuous road to recovery ahead of him. He will be dependent upon our family for care for the forseeable future, and returning to work at all is out of the question for months at minimum.
Those who know my dad, know that he is the first to lend a helping hand to others in need, and the last to ask for any assistance towards himself. This condition has affected him just as much mentally as it has physically, as he has been forced to step back as a caretaker and provider of our family and rely solely on others. The last thing we want during this time is his focus to be on the financial impact of a medical emergency such as this instead of his recovery.
To this point we have tried to not focus on the finances, but as we begin to feel the monetary weight of the ongoing medical treatment, specialized rehabilitation, mobility aids, and extended leave from work, we ask for any help we are fortunate enough to receive. Every contribution, no matter the size, means the world to us and makes a considerable difference in easing the difficulty of this time. We have been extremely grateful for the care and support shown by so many to both my dad and our entire family to this point, and are consistently being reminded just how loved he is. Thank you.

With utmost gratitude,
Casey Moe
