Hi everyone,
My name is Randy McKee and I have been married to my wife Jenny for 8 years.
We live on 7 acres in a 102-year-old home that is our retirement home. We have a
large garden, which I love to tend to daily, where we grow our own vegetables for my
wife to can or freeze. We have 2 dogs that love to lay around on the porch and 6
chickens of which 2 lay eggs. The other 4 are young.
A year ago, April, we went to the hospital in Tallahassee because I was putting on a lot
of weight and my abdomen was getting hard, and it was very painful. We were told that I
have cirrhosis of the liver. Everything changed. The way I eat, drink, work around the
house.
After months of tests, scans, biopsies, and blood tests we finally qualified for an
appointment for UF Health Shand’s Hospital where for the last 9 months they have
evaluated me for everything. Heart good, lungs good, able to withstand certain
procedures and stresses. I was admitted in March for a problem with my esophagus
that they took care of, that is all a part of the disease. That is when they finally placed
me on the Liver Transplant list. Now we are waiting for that call that will change our lives
forever.
It also means a lot of medical bills. The insurance takes care of a lot of it, but we still
need help. We have applied for financial aid but don’t qualify.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
