This past weekend, Ramiro was in a freak accident with a lawn mower that left him with life-changing injuries. He shattered his thumb and suffered a deep cut on his arm measuring 5 cm by 10 cm. He has already gone through two surgeries, and doctors say he will need a third surgery to try and close the wound, with the possibility of a skin graft afterward.

Ramiro is not only a brave young man but also a responsible son and big brother, always helping with his siblings and setting an example at home. He is incredibly smart, earning his letterman jacket for his academics in his 9th-grade year, and he’s an active member of the Conroe High School wrestling team. He has worked so hard to build a bright future, and this accident has turned his world upside down.

Through it all, his dad, Christian, has refused to leave his side, staying with him through every hospital stay and surgery. The hospital only provides meals for the patient, so Christian has often gone without food rather than leave Ramiro alone.

The costs are piling up quickly — gas for the long trips, hospital parking, food, co-pays, and the many therapy and doctor appointments still to come. We are asking for your help to ease this burden so the family can focus on Ramiro’s healing and recovery.

Ramiro has found joy in the Texas Children’s Hospital library, where he’s been able to check out books and DVDs to take his mind off the pain and long days in the hospital. Any funds left over from this fundraiser will be donated back to the library so it can continue to bring comfort and joy to other children going through difficult times.
