My name is Roman Jealousofhim , and I’m writing this with a heaviness in my chest that I never imagined I’d feel as a parent. My daughter is in the hospital fighting salmonella meningitis, and our whole world has stopped.

Nothing prepares you for the moment you watch your child struggle to stay strong while machines beep around her. One day she was her normal self… and the next, she was rushed to the hospital as her condition worsened. When the doctors told us it was salmonella meningitis, our hearts dropped. It’s rare, it’s dangerous, and it’s something no parent ever thinks will happen to their child.

We sit by her bedside every day, holding her hand, talking to her, praying she keeps fighting. There are moments where we feel helpless—moments when all we can do is hope the treatments work and that she feels our love even when she can barely open her eyes.

The financial side of this is crushing us. Between emergency care, testing, specialists, long hospital stays, and the reality that we can’t work while being here with her… everything is piling up faster than we can handle. But none of that compares to wanting her to get better. That’s all that matters to us.
