My 9 year old son, Ramesses Dreuitt Vasquez, was horribly burned in the Northeast Philadelphia plane crash. He was in a car with his father when the plane crashed in front of their car, engulfing them in a fireball of burning jet fuel. Ramesses’ body caught fire and over 90% of his skin was destroyed by the burns. He watched his father burn to death.

Ramesses and our family have been devastated by this tragedy. Ramesses burns were so horrific that he and I were helicoptered to Boston Children’s Hospital burn unit where Ramesses bravely fought for his life for 10 months. I stayed with Ramesses in Boston every day. Ramesses battled through 42 surgeries and painful therapy. His ears, fingers had to be amputated. The worst burns were to his beautiful face. His bothers Julius, 17, and Jaizen, 13, remained at home dealing with the devastating situation.

Ramesses is my little warrior who fought death and won, but he now faces a lifetime of reconstructive surgeries, intense therapy, and long term burn care. I have been unable to return to work because I am Ramesses’ primary care provider. I am extremely proud of Julius and Jaizen who have become responsible young men while I have been away with Ramesses. As a family, we have strong faith and we ask for your prayers and financial support as we continue to support Ramesses in his long fight.
