If you know Factory Five, then you likely know Ralph Button, a.k.a "The Energizer Bunny", a nickname given to him because of the number of miles he has put on his Factory Five Mk1 Roadster - over 500,000 miles!
Ralph has been a pilar in the Factory Five community for almost thirty years, and his car has become legendary. He has been absolutely selfless in spending time with people, giving kids rides in his car, participating in charity events, and he is one of the most kind and friendliest people you will ever meet.
Ralph has recently retired from his IT career and is facing serious health issues. As a result, he and his wife Laurie are in the position of having to sell his Factory Five Cobra, FFR1436, in order to pay medical bills. This is a heartbreaking decision as the car has been a part of Ralph's families life for almost three decades. The car has also been a huge part of the Factory Five community and the Factory Five story since 1998.
The car belongs with Ralph and with his sons down the road. With that in mind, I spoke to numerous customers and friends of Ralph's, as well as with Ralph personally with the idea of a fundraiser that has two goals.
The first goal is to help with medical expenses. The second goal is to keep the car in the family. Ralph's sons are not in a position to own/care for the car, and Ralph asked if I could help. Regardless of the results of this fundraiser, I have agreed to buy the car for $20,000 and have the car on display here at Factory Five in Wareham, MA.
The goal of this GoFundMe effort is to raise $40,000 (the amount Ralph was hoping to sell his car for).
Ralph can no longer drive or maintain his car, and Factory Five Racing has agreed to have the car on display here at Factory Five in Wareham, MA.
