Support Raleigh Cash: A Hero in Need of a Liver Transplant
Donation protected
I'm creating this GoFundMe for my best friend and brother in arms, Raleigh Cash. Raleigh is in urgent need of a liver transplant to survive, and the related costs are overwhelming. Raleigh is the epitome of a US Army Ranger, and an American Hero. He has been married for 25 years to an amazing woman, Jennifer, who has been the backbone of the family during Raleigh's medical challenges. They have two sons, Mason and Hunter. Mason lives at home and works locally, while Hunter is currently serving in the US Air Force, continuing the legacy of service to our country.
For those who don't know, Raleigh and I first met when assigned as roommates in B Co. 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. After a rocky start, we finally became friends and eventually, as close as any blood relative. Throughout our early Army career, we shadowed each other in training and military schools and pushed each other to excel at our jobs.
Our most challenging test came in the fall of 1993 when we were deployed to Somalia as part of Task Force Ranger. The mission ended in what has now been immortalized as "Black Hawk Down." We were in separate areas of the battle that night; I was on the ground in the city and Raleigh was on the vehicle convoy. The convoy made multiple attempts throughout the night to get to us, but each time had to turn back because they were taking more casualties, dead and wounded. Years later, I asked Raleigh, "How did you continue to get into that vehicle and keep coming out to get us each time that night?" Raleigh said, "I knew that I wouldn't see the next morning, so I did everything I could to make sure you would." That kind of courage is both inspiring and humbling.
Now it's my turn to help him. I offered a part of my liver, but unfortunately, I'm not a match. Raleigh is a devoted husband, a proud father, a dedicated warrior, and is my brother. Please consider donating to help cover the costs of this critical need. Any amount you could give will make a significant difference in his journey and will go straight to Raleigh and Jennifer. If you are unable to contribute financially, I ask that you consider sharing Raleigh's story with others to help spread the word.
