Medicine Hat Malayali Association and Medicine Hat Hindu Association have created this campaign in to hope that family, friends, and the community will help Rajesh John’s family as they go through this tough time.

On August 3, 2022, Rajesh John left his residence for a vlogging/ fishing expedition trip to Lynx creek campground in Alberta. Unfortunately, he had a cardiac arrest (myocardial infarction) and slipped in the water. His body was recovered by the RCMP and Rescue team on August 7, 2022. This tragedy has shocked the community beyond words. This campaign covers the costs associated with his funeral and family support. Rajesh John is survived by his wife Anu, 3-year-old son, aged parents, and sister.

It’s hard to encompass Rajesh’s personality in a few words. He was the epitome of love, care, compassion, and a strong advocate for following one’s passion. Since his move to Canada in 2011, he has embraced the culture to his heart. He encouraged everyone to be outdoors as the country had many outlets for self-learning, vlogging, expeditions etc. He brought life and made everyone see the country’s best through his vlogging/ fishing expeditions. He was well known in cricket groups in Medicine Hat (PRO of Medicine Hat Cricket Association) and surrounding areas, where he was a community supporter in building parks, playgrounds, and physical amenities for his community. Rajesh John hails from Calicut District, Kerala, India, where his parents and sister live. Rajesh was the sole breadwinner for a family of 5. His home in India has washed away in a mudslide, and they were trying to come together with loss when this tragedy put the family in a dire financial situation. He has worked as a disability support worker at Redi Enterprises Society Medicine Hat since 2015. The funds raised here are sole to ease the financial burdens of his funeral expenses, aging parents, medical expenses, education for his son, and support for his wife, Anu.
