Support Raiza Aquino's Healing Journey

My name is Isaac Sporrong and I'm a physics teacher at Taft High School. I'm reaching out to everyone about my coworker Raiza Aquino who recently underwent emergency surgery due to colon cancer.

Raiza is a new teacher at Taft HS (which is why I don't have a good picture yet, but I'm working on it). Because she's a new teacher she doesn't have the sick days or time in to qualify for FMLA. She's not only new to the school, but new to the country. She left her family in the Philippines to come to Chicago to teach physics. Needless to say it's been a huge challenge and culture shock for her to go from teaching physics in Tagalog to her Filipino students and come teach urban Chicago teens in English, but she's done it and always with a smile on her face. Even though she had to leave her 4 year-old son and husband to do it.

With all that being said the cost of the hospital care, along with bringing her husband and son over to support her while she's healing is adding up and we want to help her make ends meet during this trying time.
