As Salaamu Alaikum & Hello,

 

My name is Rafiqah Abdullah Akhdar, a senior at UCONN. I am currently Miss Bridgeport and will be running for Miss Connecticut USA on April 9th-10th, 2022. I have dreamed of competing in the Miss Teen CT pageant since 15 and couldn't be happier to finally compete at the age of 21. If I were to win I would be the first hijabi ever to win in the state. After winning, I would compete in the televised Miss USA pageant. Being that this is a financially tough time for everyone, any donation would be DEEPLY appreciated. Please help me pursue the next stage of my career. Every donation helps! All of the money will be going towards pageant fees, gowns, headshots, hotel fees, and many other necessities required to compete in this pageant. The goal is a bit larger than anticipated to go towards the customization of the gowns. Due to my religious beliefs and being a hijabi, it's very tough to find modest gowns for events like these, so customizations are required. Having something made would allow me to preserve my modesty while embracing and incorporating my personal style. My top sponsors will be recognized in the pageant program. If you're unfamiliar with the pageant, it is run by the Miss Universe Organization, which represents and celebrates women of all races and ethnicities. Competing in this pageant would mean that I will be representing so many African American Muslim women who are commonly not given their proper representation. If given this title, I would use the platform to speak out on multifaceted issues that affect my community. This would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thank you so much for all of your support!
