Support Raelyn's Fight for Recovery

Donation protected
Hello everyone. We are switching to the GoFundMe platform for Raelyn in order to allow for both information updates as well as donations. Many people have reached out asking about donating, and as we all know during any hardship, financial stresses can be a large concern during such a long, unknown amount of time being away from home and work. So Angelica Larson and I, went ahead and set this up so that family and friends have the option to donate if they would like. We will be allowing for a couple different donation options so that people can choose which way they would prefer to donate, via gofundme page, Venmo to Nicole, or direct checks sent to their home. Details on those options below. Also, I have copied and pasted the previous updates from CaringBridge to this post, so that those who have not seen them can understand the full situation. I apologize for the lengthy post because of this.

Update 8/1:
Unfortunately, last weekend was a very eventful weekend for Rae. As they fought to control her pain and high heart rate, she continued to have issues with multiple organs, which led to high blood glucose and bloody diarrhea/vomiting. Previous imaging has shown that she has had some degree of tissue damage to her spleen, pancreas, liver, stomach, and bowel, on top of the kidney problems she has encountered up to this point. It is believed that many of the issues she is experiencing, are related to the organ damage, but there isn’t a clear understanding of why. Rheumatology is getting involved in order to hopefully determine a cause, which could potentially have an autoimmune component. The pain medication she was receiving was changed on Sunday, which seemed to make her more comfortable and improve her heart rate! Also, nuclear imaging was completed to possibly determine the cause of the bleeding and the drop in hemoglobin that she has been experiencing. This result showed some bleeding in her stomach/bowel which hopefully will heal on its own without surgery. However, Sunday she did receive a blood transfusion to improve her hemoglobin, which has stabilized now with her bloody vomit/diarrhea subsiding as of Wednesday! As of Thursday, her blood sugar has evened out, her liver labs have improved, and she seems to be more comfortable!

Again, it is a day by day battle for Rae and her family to determine what will be next for her and her long road to recovery. We are all very grateful for the small hurdles that she continues to overcome, and pray for continued answers to the unknowns, along with the most comfort for Raelyn during these challenging days! ❤️

Update from 7/20:
Hi all. We are starting a CaringBridge for Raelyn, in hopes of alleviating some of the stress and concern that can be felt as caregivers, in regards to updating family and friends during such a difficult time.
As a bit of a background, Raelyn Jean (6) was diagnosed at a young age with Moyamoya. A rare cerebrovascular disorder that affects the blood vessels of the brain. She was hospitalized for a large portion of her first year of life determining and treating this diagnosis.
Since then, Raelyn has fought everyday to show that she could outdo what she was “supposed” to be capable of doing. She has shown her resilience, strength, happiness, personality, and love in ways that we didnt know if she would ever be able to express at all!
It had been a tough road for Raelyn and her family (TJ, Nicole, and Adley) to say the very least, when this past May things became even tougher. Raelyn contracted a GI bug that severely affected her and caused her kidneys to shutdown. Raelyn has basically been hospitalized since May 5th with many different medical teams working to try and get her healthy and home. Her kidneys began to slowly start working again with dialysis, but it would take time. With plans for TJ and Nicole to administer at home peritoneal dialysis every night, they went home for a short time before Raelyn became very sick again. This time related to a sudden drop in hemoglobin and platelets due to an unknown cause.
Raelyn’s condition is very complex with many tests being ran to determine the full extent of her illness. There are many unknowns and questions at this time. We all just hope and pray that Raelyn can fight through and outdo again, like we have seen her do before! ❤️
During this time, TJ and Nicole have been staying in the cities at the hospital, while periodically traveling back and forth to their home in South Range, with their other daughter Adley. They have been navigating all of the health changes, information, and constant changing of plans as best they can in hopes that Raelyn can come home soon!
I will plan to post on this page as Cody and I are updated with Raelyns situation and any new information that they determine.

Update 7/24:
Another CT scan was completed yesterday that showed some organ improvements and possible explanations to some of the issues that she has been battling. Rae’s blood pressure and blood sugar has been quite elevated previously, those have improved drastically and been controlled well over the past couple days. With the many different teams of specialized doctors, they are trying their best to place all the puzzle pieces together and find a better understanding of what all is causing these issues and the best plan to improve them moving forward. However, as previously, there are still many unknowns and questions, but I am happy to pass on that there seem to be small improvements each day and that Raelyns pain is under control as well! ❤️
