We are reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to share the story of our beloved cousin, Rachid Salim Younes, who has recently been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)—a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually impacting muscle control and mobility.
At just 52, Rachid is facing a life-altering battle. Once an active, independent person who brought energy and laughter to everyone around him, he is now adjusting to a new reality filled with physical challenges, emotional hurdles, and an uncertain future. Despite the diagnosis, his courage, resilience, and sense of humor remain deeply inspiring.
ALS not only affects the body, but it also places a tremendous emotional and financial burden on patients and their families. As Rachid’s condition progresses, he will require:
Specialized medical equipment (wheelchair, communication devices, mobility aids)
- Home modifications for accessibility
- Ongoing physical and occupational therapy
- In-home care and transportation support
- Experimental or integrative treatments not covered by insurance
