My name is Savannah, and I am the sister of Rachel. It is not easy to ask for help but an unexpected medical emergency has left Rachel with a burden that is too heavy to carry alone. I am asking for help on her behalf.

Rachel is a 31-year-old single mom and the primary provider for her 4-year-old son, Benjamin. She’s the kind of person who gives everything she has to others. She is generous, thoughtful, hardworking, and always putting other’s first.

In April, while visiting family, Rachel experienced a sudden medical emergency. She herniated a disc in her lower spine, leading to Cauda Equina Syndrome, a rare and serious condition that can cause lifelong complications if not treated immediately. This is when the nerves are compressed by the herniated disc which can cause severe back pain, weakness or paralysis of the legs, numbness, and other lower body dysfunction. Thankfully, I was able to take her to the ER where it was caught in time and she underwent emergency surgery.

While we are incredibly grateful the surgery was successful and that Rachel is on the road to healing, her recovery comes with major challenges. She is currently under strict physical and lifting restrictions, with lingering complications and some nerve damage that we are hoping will heal with time. This has left her unable to work for the foreseeable future. She will not be able to return to her job and will need to find new employment when the time comes due to her condition. She is so strong and holding it together for her son and family, but I know this is so hard for her.

Rachel is now facing over $35,000 in medical bills, along with the stress of covering rent, basic living expenses, and caring for Benjamin without an income.
We are asking for $45,000 to help relieve this overwhelming burden, covering her medical expenses, supporting her recovery, and ensuring she and Benjamin can stay stable during this difficult time.

If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. And if you can’t give, sharing this page would mean so much to us. Most important of all, prayers would be most appreciated for her and Benjamin at this time.

Rachel has spent her life lifting others up, now it’s our turn to lift her.

With gratitude,
The Brown Family
