Hey there, my name is Rachel and my family and I have hit are very hard spot in life. My family includes myself, my teenage son, and my bonus kid (I have guardianship of my son's best friend).
In February 2025, my landlord passed away - by August 2025, we had to move. This move doubled our Cost of Living from ~$900 to ~$2,100. Soon after, I lost my job on Halloween - I have been steadfast looking for a job since. I had multiple interviews throughout December but did not receive any employment offer until 3 weeks ago - I was able to accept a better offer one week ago to start a new job 2/9/26. My first paycheck is expected 2/27/26.
In the meantime, I have been ridesharing but I am barely covering our living expenses - basically chasing my tail each month. I have sold everything I can, I have trimmed all the financial "fat" that I can, I am working up to 15-hour days (as much as I can stand to safely drive), I have a couple permanent rides every week, I am donating plasma, & I am intermittently tutoring. I have also reached out to community organizations for assistance but most funds are exhausted or have unique qualifiers that I do not qualify for.
Quite unfortunately, I have exhausted all options and do not think I am going to make rent for February. I come to you, incredibly humbled, asking for help with only February's rent. I will manage everything else as it comes.
I know with everything else happening in the world, my issue may seem mostly inconsequential but it will have a huge, very damaging effect on all of our lives. I am petrified that we will be displaced permanently over a very temporary situation, that has a solution in sight.
Should you feel compelled, I would appreciate any assistance available.
I am willing to offer additional proof that I am working and just not making enough to meet the rent.
