Support Rachel’s battle with Myelofibrosis
Donation protected
Something I learned very early on about Rachel is that she is known and loved by everyone she meets. No doubt due to her ability to make friends with anyone, she has a way about her that makes you feel instantly at ease. She exudes warmth, positivity, and kindness and she is just someone you want to be around.
Shortly after I found out Rachel was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, my first thought was, "how could this be?!"
Rachel went about her days as usual. To the outside world, she was the school Psychologist who spent her days working to help children at our neighborhood school. She was the doting mom of two little boys: Harrison (7 years) and Bennett (5 years). She was the loving wife to Kyle and the best dog mom to Billie. Days were spent at soccer games and nights were spent roasting s'mores in the backyard. From the outside looking in, you would have never believed this woman was sick. I'm convinced no one would have found out had she not been forced to reach out and ask for help due to her need for a stem cell transplant. The need for a donor.
But that's Rachel. She is strong - both physically and mentally. She puts her family first. She spends her time helping others for a living and when she isn't helping other people's children, she's at home making memories for and with her own. She would never want anyone to feel sorry for her and she wouldn't want to burden anyone by asking for help.
Right now, Rachel and her family need our help. She is currently in a local hospital for a Stem Cell Transplant that will require a 6-9 month recovery period. She will need a significant amount of time off of work and is anticipating a month-long hospital stay (something she has currently begun).
My hope is that this page will serve as a way for you to show your love and support for Rachel, her husband Kyle, and their two sons, Harrison and Bennett as they continue on this journey. The plan is to get in front of the medical bills that will come with treatment and help to cover other monthly costs. We are hoping and praying that this will all be behind them as quickly as possible, but in the meantime, offering some relief from medical bills would be a tremendous help.
