Love Rachel Through Cancer Treatment and Recovery

In October 2023, doctors diagnosed Rachel with Breast Cancer (or Invasive Ductal Carcinoma). On December 14th, Rachel will undergo a double mastectomy to prevent the spread of the cancer. She will then be in recovery for 6 weeks or beyond. We invite you to be a part of Rachel’s recovery network.

Rachel is someone who has built strong relationships with her clients and will be really anxious to get back into the salon and work. Her care network is pushing her to slowly ease back into the salon with a reduced workload to give her body time to heal. Contributing to this fundraiser is a significant way you can offer relief to Rachel’s conditions, as she moves through the treatment and recovery process

Rachel is self-employed and self-insured, which means she can't provide for her family if she does not work behind the chair. While she is recovering from cancer, the expenses from medical bills, small business expenses, home bills, and lost wages will pile up. Any gifts you can share would help Rachel and her family reduce some of this stress allowing her to focus on healing body, mind, and spirit after a difficult diagnosis and procedure.

Health care costs:

Rachel will have to pay over $15K out of pocket for health insurance deductibles for 2023 and 2024. We won't know what other post surgery treatments there will be until the pathology comes back after surgery. It will range from chemotherapy to a 5 year- hormone blocking medicine which will be an ongoing expense.

Lost wages:

December through February are Rachel’s three busiest months of the year. As a small business owner, her income is dependent on her ability to take care of clients. We are asking to help Rachel to cover the lost wages for half of December, all of January, and half of February so she has proper time to heal.
