Rachel Simons was a beloved part-time Associate Professor of Psychology at Mendocino College, where she began teaching her first class this spring semester. Teaching at Mendocino College was her dream job, and it allowed her to fulfill her purpose. Her husband shared that she was a light wherever she went, and the college gave her a chance to share her incredible light with her students. Rachel was a passionate teacher, a dedicated wife and mother, and a brilliant healer whose compassion shone through her work at the hospital. She wanted nothing more than to share her light and passion for psychology as a college professor.
Tragically, Rachel passed away on March 14, 2026, at just 33 years old, leaving behind her loving husband and two young sons, ages 1 and 3. The family had already faced immense hardship, as their house caught fire a month before her passing. Now, her husband is left to care for their very young children and rebuild their lives in the wake of these devastating events.
This fundraiser is being created to help Rachel's family with funeral expenses, support for her children, and assistance as they recover from the house fire. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for this family as they navigate an incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and support will help honor Rachel's memory and provide hope for her loved ones as they move forward.
