Hello friends and loved ones, after multiple rough months financially due to several unexpected expenses, Paul and I are struggling to keep our heads above water. We would appreciate absolutely any help you can give, either through sharing or donating.
Recent Unexpected Expenses:
- The co-pay for my weekly therapy session with my counselor went up in September, but we did not get notified until the end of the year that there was an outstanding balance. We were able to get it paid (with help), but we've been struggling ever since.
- Both cats needed vet visits and deworming medication.
- Insurance has denied coverage for my nutritional formula (tube feeds) and we are currently paying that out of pocket while we go through the process of an appeal.
- The heat went out in the car and it needs a new tire.
- My physical therapist isn't covered by insurance and will be increasing her prices in March. We are hopeful I will need to see her less (currently seeing her once a week) by then, but her weekly assistance is currently vital to my continued recovery.
Recurring Expenses That Are Difficult:
- Without a washer and dryer hooked up in the house, Paul does all of our laundry at the laundromat. We don't always have the funds to do laundry.
- Basic medical supplies like oxygen canisters, syringes, gauze, medical tape, latex gloves, medications not covered by insurance, supplies for physical therapy, etc.
- Gas, groceries, bills, etc.
Projects We Would Like to be Able to Work On, But Can't Due to Funds:
- Making the house more wheelchair accessible to me.
- Increasing the amount of non-screen time activities I can do throughout the day (right now I'm pretty fixated on crochet, but limited on yarn). I would also really love to try some paint by numbers, as this was a thing I always wanted to do as a child and wasn't able to. I have found great healing in being able to explore simple things like that.
We would appreciate your support in whatever way you are able to give it. A simple share goes a long way, even if you're currently unable to give financially. We understand that everyone is in a tough spot financially right now and only ask that you give when/what you are able.
We would also like to profoundly thank Paul's mom, Jennell, for her generosity in making it possible for me to have my nurse aide, Drema, here twice a week. Without Jennell, this would not be possible.
With love and light,
Rachel (and Paul)
