Support Mother and Daughter after Hurricane Helene Loss

My name is Stephanie Smith (center). I currently live in Colorado, but I am from western North Carolina. My family and friends still live there and were directly impacted by Hurricane Helene. I am organizing this fundraiser for one of my best friends Rachel Spencer (left) and her daughter (right).
On Friday September 27, 2024, Rachel and her daughter were displaced by Hurricane Helene in Vilas, NC outside of Boone. They were able to get to safety to their landlords home nearby but were unable to save anything. Water rose up to their ceiling and destroyed everything. They rented their apartment and did not have flood insurance.
They lost everything including transportation. They were without cell phone or internet until October 1st. Without transportation, they relied on neighbors and friends for rides to get meals. And thanks to the kindness of the community, found a place to sleep where they could keep their dogs.
All donations will go directly to Rachel and her daughter for:
- food
- shelter
- clothing
- furniture
- costs to find a new place to live (down payment and deposits)
- getting transportation
- school needs for her daughter (when schools are back up and running)
- buying all new essentials to rebuild a life
- paying bills that are sadly still come in
