Hi, my name is Rachael Cross, and I’m raising funds to support my ongoing fight with **Muscle Dysferlin Disease**, a rare genetic muscle disorder also known as **dysferlinopathy**—a battle I have been facing for the past **10 years**.
Muscle dysferlin disease affects the body’s ability to repair muscle fibers after everyday use. Instead of healing properly, my muscles gradually weaken and break down over time. This condition has impacted my mobility, strength, balance, and overall quality of life. Tasks many people take for granted—walking, standing for long periods, lifting objects, or maintaining endurance—have become painful, exhausting, and increasingly difficult.
This disorder has caused:
* Progressive muscle weakness
* Chronic muscle pain and fatigue
* Difficulty walking, climbing stairs, and standing up
* Loss of strength and mobility over time
* Increased risk of falls and injury
There is currently no cure for muscle dysferlin disease. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms, slowing progression, preserving mobility, and maintaining independence through specialized medical care, physical therapy, adaptive equipment, medications, and ongoing monitoring by specialists. Much of this care is costly and not always fully covered by insurance.
I am starting this GoFundMe to help cover:
* Medical treatments and specialist visits
* Physical therapy and mobility support
* Adaptive equipment and accessibility needs
* Ongoing care required to manage this condition
Living with a progressive muscle disease for a decade has been physically, emotionally, and financially challenging. Despite this, I continue to fight with faith, resilience, and hope. Your support will help ease the financial burden and allow me to focus on my health, stability, and future.
Any donation—no matter the amount—makes a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as powerful. Thank you for reading my story, for your support, your prayers, and your kindness. It truly means more than words can express.
Peace and Blessings,
Rachael Cross
