Support Quixoti's Recovery After Tragic Accident

To all who care,

UPDATE 9/25/24:
The reason for the change in the Fundraising goal is that we now have more current information.

Medical Insurance-wise, we expect the "Maximum Out Of Pocket" for this to be $13,300.

There are many more expenses beyond this to be considered. For example, we still don't know what she is liable for with totaling a dump truck. The auto insurance covered $50k.... I checked on the Blue Book for a 2020 MAC and it was $140k. I don't know the year of that beast, but, looked kind of new. I would assume that the MAC truck owner should have commercial insurance, thus, they should also have Uninsured/Underinsured coverage...right?
And from there, will their insurance come after her for that? (I would call that "double-dipping"). If that happens, we should start a class action thing...

What is important is Quixoti's healing experience. She is experiencing issues rejecting the internal stiches from her spinal surgery. She has an open wound that is about 4"x2"x1"
It is INSANE! This never should have happened! She had 24x7 care! She left Baxter Rehab when the problem started.... They done what was within their "Silo" of responsibilities... We can't blame them.. Can't blame Cox... They done ALL they could as well.
Q was sent home with a seriously BAD bed sore\Infection which escalated to her now being signed up with the Wound Clinic and now part of her spinal bridge hardware is now exposed. Totally... (*explitives go here*)

All the balls were dropped with engaging Home Health. Never got it until today, 9/25/24. We've had to bring her to town every day to Urgent Care because Home Health wasn't available and she had an insane infection.

We now have to come up with out of pocket for a Wound-Vac because none of the other insurance claims have settled. She still has 1 car payment left (even though totaled) needs phone service... and...

She needs your help! Our family has been giving all too. I could throw numbers at you for what we have spent, collectively, but it is inconsequential.

If you have donated already - thank you thank you thank you!
If you have not... I get it, it is okay!
For those who gave and really couldn't afford it - huge blessings to you!

The ORIGINAL POST BELOW--------

We are trying to raise funds to help Quixoti and our family to help cover expenses related to her tragic accident on Aug 22, 2024.

Quixoti was on her way home from work at around 7:30am. It's still unknown exactly what happened but her Kia Soul met oncoming traffic, specifically a flatbed tractor trailer and a dump truck. The car ended up about 20 yards or more away into the woods and the engine another 20 + yards in another direction.

Quixoti suffered numerous injuries and lost a pet kitten as well. As of 8/29/24 she had spent 7 days in the Cox South Medical Center Neuro Trauma ICU and one day in a regular room at the hospital. No idea when she will be released. (I am sparing the details of the injuries for privacy reasons.)

We are incredibly grateful that all of her broken parts were able to be patched up with some screws, plates, wires and whatnot! She was definitely spared by the grace of God! And to think that a Kia Soul could disable a dump truck...WOW!

After she gets released from the hospital she is looking at a couple weeks in inpatient rehab at Baxter Regional.

As for the OTHER guys - Minor damage was done to the rear wheel of the flatbed trailer and the dump truck's front wheels were tore off and other related damage.

Insurance covered her medical expenses for the most part (to be determined). Her auto insurance will cover $50k property damage. It is currently unknown if the dump truck will be declared "totaled" and how much (if any) she will have to pay out of pocket.

We also have expenses for accommodations and travel back and forth to the hospital in Springfield and the unknown of what the future has in store...like, no disability insurance, not able to work for a while (no income) and will eventually need another vehicle...etc.

We would be grateful for any help, even a buck or two.
Thank you in advance!
