Support Quin's Legacy: Caring Cradle for St. Luke's
Donation protected
Time was not on our side as we had to say goodbye to our beautiful baby, Quin. Everytime she was passed back into my arms, her body was a little more withered. She was diminishing before my eyes. We chose not to have Eliza meet her because we weren't sure how she would react to her sister's appearance. My heart goes out to those who have experienced the same.
We only had hours, whereas some people who experience a stillbirth can have days with their baby. We want to make this a possibility for others who will experience a stillbirth in Sioux City in the future.
The Caring Cradle is a device that cools the body of a baby immediately following stillbirth. The changes a baby’s body goes through can be difficult to view or manage. The Caring Cradle can slow those changes down which then slows the need to separate the family and the baby. In effect, the family can spend more time with their baby. They take pictures of their baby. Families are able to meet the baby. They get imprints of the baby's hands and feet. They can bathe and dress their baby. They snuggle their baby. They take in every feature so they will always remember and never forget. The importance of this time seems self-explanatory: families want to make memories. Stillbirth families leave with empty arms and broken hearts. At the least, ‘more time’ allows for opportunities to build memories.
A Caring Cradle is $7800 . Our goal is to eventually be able to donate a Caring Cradle in Quinlynn's name to St. Lukes hospital in Sioux City, so we can make a tragedy a little more bearable for other families who experience this heartache.
