Help Quin recover from cancer! Community blood donations saved her life - now she needs community support again. Quin beat leukemia once and will beat breast cancer now. These days she is living off milk far too often because she's unable to prepare and cook food or leave the house to get what she needs. "Every hot taco a friend has put in front of me has kept me alive." Please help cover costs for basic necessities and debts so Quin can recover from breast cancer.

Quin's Story:
Quin and I met in Texas right after highschool and have been friends for 20 years. She has an indomitable spirit and is full of light and life. She is a lover, a fighter, and a survivor. Even in the midst of her recent diagnosis, Quin fiercely loves and supports others. When we chat she jokes and laughs and cries and imagines a future where she can pursue her dreams. Quin says, "I'm clearly very hard to kill but I need help to actually thrive.”

In 2011, when Quin was 22 she went to the ER and was diagnosed with AML leukemia. She didn't leave the hospital for a month and began chemo and treatment. That same year her mom had breast cancer and a double mastectomy with later recurring treatment & surgeries. Ultimately, community blood donations saved Quin's life and she went into remission. Post-leukemia she worked for the NY Blood Center doing public speaking to support others and got a degree in Rehabilitation Studies, working to help people access disability resources.

Quin has had a myriad of serious health conditions since then including on-going chronic pain, dysautotomia, reactive hypoglycemia and celiac's disease, migraines, and seizures.

In 2025, Quin was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to get a full mastectomy. Quin is currently separated from her co-parent, who she shares a home with to provide stability for their 5 y/o son. She is preparing for reconstructive surgery and in PT for nerve pain. Her family support has been funneled into helping take care of her son. Quin is asking for help to recover so she can provide for herself again.

Quin is grateful that she has insurance and a place to stay but she doesn't have finances for day-to-day necessities.

WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR:
1. Food - Ready-to-eat meals for bad days, ingredients to meal prep when able, high-quality proteins, celiac-friendly options she can access when cognition is impaired
2. Pay down medical/therapy debt
3. Medical expenses, PT, travel for ongoing recovery and reconstruction
4. Buffer for reconstruction - ability to rest and heal properly

FINANCIAL SITUATION:
∙ $6,000-7,000 in debt from credit cards taken out since cancer diagnosis
∙ Debt from: food, therapy for herself and son, out-of-pocket medical costs, gas to Md Anderson in Houston and appts in Dallas
∙ Currently maxing out credit cards for basic survival
∙ Going into reconstruction surgery depleted and undernourished when body desperately needs fuel
∙ Struggling to find plastic surgeon who takes insurance for delayed expander placement (many stopped taking insurance for reconstruction in past year) a GP/PCP who can provide basic care and has first scan since mastectomy coming up

I am hoping to raise $15,000 for Quin so she can spend the next several months focused on healing and reaching health stability. Anything you can give is deeply appreciated.
