Quillbo Pokenz came to us from a shelter just over a year ago. They didn't know very much about his life before, or about hedgehogs in general. They weren't even sure how old he was. We knew immediately he needed us to rescue him. He wasn't with us long when we noticed some problem areas on his skin that wouldn't clear up. The vet diagnosed him with Ringworm and we started treatment -- round after round of medicines and baths and vet check ups. Quillbo endured all this with his usual good, happy attitude and made a lot of friends at the vets office. But this infection didn't clear up. Finally the vet decided to remove a sample of gunk from his head and send it off to a lab for some more (very expensive) tests. Last night she called with the worst news. The tests revealed skin cancer. Quillbo is only a year old and he still has a lot of life left to live, so we asked what our options are. The vet believes they can remove the cancer. If they remove all of it, and it doesn't grow back, Quillbo can live a long, happy life. The estimate for surgery and medicine and after care is $2120. When dealing with cancer, the sooner you act, the better. Please help us raise the necessary money for Quillbo's surgery.
