Help a Determined Mother Get Her Kids to College
Hi, my name is Quiana, and I’m a proud mother of three beautiful, talented, and hard-working children — Nicolas, Kaya, and Kyndall. We live in Redondo Beach, California, where I was born and raised, and where I’ve done everything I can to raise my kids with love, strength, and purpose.
We don’t come from much, but what we do have is heart. We have grit. We have each other.
While others had private lessons, personal trainers, and all the best gear, my kids had me, a public park, and their own fire to succeed. And they did. Year after year, they’ve earned scholarships to keep playing the sports they love — baseball and softball — because they’ve worked so hard for it. I couldn’t be prouder.
But right now, I’m in a situation I never imagined.
Kaya, my daughter, has received a scholarship to play softball at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. She needs to report by August 20th — and I don’t know how I’m going to get her there. I’m a 10-month school employee, so summer means no income. I’ve tried everything I can think of, but time is running out.
We’re not asking for luxury — we just need help with:
Travel expenses to get Kaya safely to school plane, train, automobile the most frugal way possible
Dorm essentials and fees that aren’t covered by her scholarship
And any extra to help Nicolas return to Santa Barbara City College to continue playing baseball and working toward his own dreams.
Life has been challenging, but we have conquered. Nothing hurts more than the idea that, after everything we have worked for, my children might not get the opportunities they deserve.
As a mother, that’s heartbreaking.
I’ve never been one to ask for help like this. It’s humbling. It’s hard. But this is not about me. This is for my children. They deserve this chance. And if you’re a parent, or someone who’s ever had a dream but just needed that one person to believe in you — I’m asking for that belief now.
Even if all you can do is share this, it matters.
If you can give — any amount — it goes directly to supporting their journey and future.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Quiana
