My name is Kimberly Elefante and I live in Charlestown, Rhode Island where I have raised my family of 9 children for 28 years. Many of you know me through my career as a bus monitor and teacher assistant in the Chariho school district, where I have worked for 14 years and counting.
On Wednesday, March 25th 2026, our beloved family dog Pumpkin was hit by a car on Route 2 in Charlestown. After 2 vet visits, it has been determined that she will need a $10,000 surgery to repair a shattered pelvis. We are reaching out to Charlestown and surrounding communities to ask for assistance in paying for her surgery. At 8 years old, Pumpkin is coonhound with lots of energy and love left to give. We would love to give her the chance to live out as many more years as she can happily playing disc golf and going for hikes in Ninigret with her dad, Mark Elefante.
The surgery is time sensitive, as Pumpkin is in a lot of pain and not eating or drinking, and if we wait longer than 2 weeks her broken bones will begin to fuse together and would have to be broken again for surgery. Please share far and wide with animal lovers in our Rhode Island communities. We appreciate any and all help. Thank you for listening to Pumpkin’s story.
