Support Proper Rose Garden's Recovery

Hey everyone this is Mike from Proper Rose Garden. I never imagined I’d be writing this today. When we started this journey, we dreamed of creating a space where families all over Houston could come together. A place to share moments over affordable afternoon tea, without the need for reservations or formal attire—just good company, warm hearts, and lasting memories.

But life had other plans.

We began construction in 2019, excited to bring this dream to life. Then COVID-19 hit, and like so many others, we were forced to stop. The pause stretched longer than anyone expected, and the development around us came to a standstill—some projects never resumed. As time passed, more challenges followed: year after year of devastating storms, crippling power outages during our busiest seasons, and the rising costs of inventory that made it harder and harder to stay afloat. Every time we fought to recover, another setback knocked us down.

We gave this dream everything we had. We poured our hearts and souls into every corner of our little tea house, hoping that we could weather the storm. But now, after years of struggle, we are heartbroken to say that our first location will be closing.

We never wanted it to end like this. We’ve spoken with so many of you over the years—your kindness, laughter, and loyalty kept us going. It’s because of you that we held on as long as we did. That’s why we’re asking, with heavy hearts, for your help. We are burdened with debt that we can no longer carry alone, and we need your support to close this chapter on a brighter note. Anything will help.

If we can clear these debts, we might just get the chance to try again—to rebuild in a new location, to once again create a space for family and friends to gather. We’re not ready to give up on that dream just yet. But for now, we need your kindness one last time.

Everyone who donates over $20 will be entered into a lotto to receive our LAST Tea set. We held on to this for memories but it seems now we have no choice but to give that up, in hopes to clear our debts. We will announce the winner on our Instagram!
