Dear friends and supporters,
I am Priyasaravanan, a Bharatanatyam artist from Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. Dance has been my greatest passion
and strength, guiding me through life’s most difficult moments. I completed my undergraduate degree at the
University of Jaffna and my master’s at Alagappa University, India, and I have dedicated my life to learning.
performing and sharing the art of dance.
My father has been unemployed since my childhood, and my mother, a retired schoolteacher, was the sole
provider for our family of six. Growing up with limited resources, we faced significant financial challenges—
challenges that continue to this day. But amidst these hardships, dance became my refuge. It has not only
strengthened me physically but has also nurtured my mental and emotional well-being. I have experienced how
deeply healing and transformative contemporary dance can be, and this realization has inspired me to dedicate
my life to using movement as a source of strength, hope, and connection.
I am truly honored to have been selected for a prestigious three-year program at the Contemporary Dance
School Hamburg (CDSH) through the EuroAsia scholarship, which covers 50% of my tuition. This program will
allow me to immerse myself in contemporary dance while building on my classical Bharatanatyam foundation.
with the goal of returning home to contribute meaningfully to the dance community in Sri Lanka.
To take up this opportunity, I require a minimum of 18,000 euros per year to cover my living and study expenses
in Hamburg. In addition, for the visa process, I am required to show proof of funds totaling 11,000 euros as part
of the financial documentation.
This is where I humbly ask for your help. Any contribution—no matter how big or small—will bring me one step
closer to this dream. If you are unable to support financially, even sharing this message with others can make a
meaningful impact.
This journey is not just my own—it is one I hope to walk on behalf of many who dream of making a difference
through art. With your support, I believe I can grow as an artist and return to uplift others through dance.
