Hello.
My name is Priscilla. I’m originally from Australia and have been in the United States for six years. I’ve just found out that my grandma is very, very sick, and her prognosis isn’t good. I need to make urgent plans to get myself and my daughter back to Australia as soon as possible.
Right now, we’re just getting by and we don’t have the funds to make this happen. My grandma has always been such an important part of my life. She played a huge role in raising me. My brother and I spent so much of our childhood at her house, and she was always there for us no matter what. The thought of not being there with my family, to say goodbye and honour her, is something I can’t bear.
Unfortunately, this is one of the most expensive times to travel. On top of the flights, we now need emergency US passports in order to return, since we’ve become American citizens. I can apply in person in Minneapolis, but that means out-of-state travel, time off work, and more unexpected costs.
We are trying to figure out the passport situation as best we can, but the flights are the biggest obstacle. Right now, they’re sitting around $3400 to $4500 and keep changing.
I feel really uncomfortable asking for help like this, and I wouldn’t if there was any other option. But I truly need to be there. My grandma means everything to me.
Any support, no matter how small, would mean more than I can put into words. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
